In my view, the "Premium" designation is due to the Gibson pups, but without them, you may as well buy the previous Episodes ES-175 and save a few hundred bucks (and buy some real 57s to install!). So this "Premium" Epi is no premium at all.

Sure enough, they were definitely NOT Gibson pups, but Altec pups. So I removed the strings to replace them with my personal faves and I removed the pups and had a look. I knew there was something strange when I compared it to my other Epi ES-175P with USA Gibson 57s. I purchased a second Epi ES-175P from an online seller and it was listed as with USA Gibson 57 Classics. They really don't refurbish much and they remove the Gibson 57s and replace them with other pups, not even close to sound of the 57s or the Super 58s. There is no manufacturer warranty.Beware of the "refurbished" Epiphone ES-175 Premiums by MIRC. This allows us to sell you a guitar that is in like new condition for well below the price of a brand new instrument. They then remove the original serial number and issue it a new one to avoid false warranty claims. In the cases of a blemish or minor cosmetic issue, no work is done. It was sent to the largest guitar refurbisher in the US where it was repaired, inspected and set up. This means it was either discontinued or rejected from the assembly line of the original manufacturer for a blemish, flaw or minor repair (described above).
